Last Season?
It is sad that one of the best courtroom dramas in awhile on tv has to be taken off the air..This "1st" season is the last (really sad) and it is excellent..the cast is great and the acting better..The story lines at times did plod but, all in all, should have been brought back for a 2nd season...
Revisiting A Grisham Classic: Ten Years Later, The McDeere's Are Still Up To Their Elbows In Intrigue
NBC was banking that there was an audience clamoring to catch up with the characters from the wildly popular John Grisham novel and Tom Cruise movie "The Firm." Just one hitch, the movie came out 12 years ago. And while glitzy, polished, and fun, it is hardly a genre classic that feels particular relevant today. TV audiences did not flock to the 2012 "The Firm" and so the show was shuffled around as it burnt out its run during the summer season. To truly embrace the series, it helps to have a strong memory and a working knowledge of the material from a dozen years ago. This picks up roughly ten years after the conclusion of that story. The show has the good fortune to have cast Josh Lucas (my choice for one of our more underrated actors) in the Mitch McDeere role with the always appealing Molly Parker as his wife Abby. The couple has struggled after bringing down the mob-fronted law firm of the original, and the show begins with them stepping away from Federal Witness...
Great show
My roommate and I LOVE this show. Every week leaves you in suspense and ready for the next episode. Unfortunately, NBC didn't promote the show well enough, so I don't think the show got the credit it deserved. Is the show realistic? Not really, but it's TV for heaven's sake. A lot of things that happen on TV and in movies would never really happen in real life. The family that the show is based on faces things no one in real life would ever face, but who cares?!?! It's entertaining. That's what matters.
