Underrated and undiscovered - Worth a listen!
I first discovered The Moscow Coup Attempt while researching Numbers Stations. Derek Whitacre incorporates many eerie, haunting audio effects into his ambient music, ranging from the shortwave radio static and the mysterious transmissions called Numbers Stations, to sound bites from old foreign movies. If you like listening to The CONET Project and Numbers Stations, The Moscow Coup Attempt has captured its ambiance of mystery and tension admirably. His YouTube music videos are compelling, hypnotic mixes of old stock filmreels that are expertly pieced together. The videos capture an unnamed tension and spookiness that complements the music well.
While I'm not as impressed by "Transmissions from the End of the World" as I am with TMCA's earlier work, especially "Recidivism" and "Insomnia", it still is worth the download, and is a good listen in its own right.
