Father Dowling Mysteries: The Second Season

A Priest and Nun Go Into a Bar...
1990 was an exceptional year for quality television series. And for the indelible three years that Father Dowling Mysteries aired on NBC and ABC, from January 20, 1989 to May 2, 1991, no other show can hold a candle to its significance. And prior to the show, on November 30, 1987, a TV movie, "Fatal Confession," was broadcast on NBC.

During the first season, NBC ran only nine episodes, and then the studio, for whatever reason, pulled the plug on the show. Maybe it had something to do with the writer's strike at the time. Luckily, the following year, the show was picked up by ABC for its last two seasons.

One of the successes for the show was the chemistry between the two main regulars, Tom Bosley and Tracy Nelson. Casting is vital when deciding who fits the character's quirks and personality. And it was immeasurable and fun to watch these two memorable actors entertain a growing audience in its three year run. A lock-picking nun and a charming Catholic priest...

Father Dowling
This series is just now becoming available in the US. I had gotten it years ago and found out after receiving that it was only for Canada and was unable to find anyone carrying it in US format. Nice little mystery series, not too gory, no bad language. Amusing with a feisty nun playing off the formerly by the book Parish Priest.

fun & easy
My husband and I remember when these shows were on television and enjoy them, they are easy to watch, no violence no foul language, just enjoyable.
