His humor uses the F-bomb, but unlike so many of his counterparts does not rely on it. What Bill failed to do was to "bring it home" with the big laugh at the end. Comedians normally try to end on a big laugh by using earlier material and connecting it to the final laugh.
An Engaging And Amusing Storyteller: Bellamy May Be Older, But He's Still Got Charm To Spare
I really like Bill Bellamy. I'll just get that out of the way. I've watched him develop into a pretty good actor through the years (I can't believe Fastlane was a decade ago), but I haven't seen him do stand-up in a very long time. So I was excited to check out this LOL Comedy Showcase filmed at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. Shot before an enthusiastic audience, "Crazy Sexy Dirty" is not as crazy, as sexy, or as dirty as its title might imply--but it is still a thoroughly entertaining hour. Bellamy is no longer a brash young comic, and his performance is flavored with a maturity and a middle-aged viewpoint that works perfectly. This solid set is more about storytelling than about quick one-liners, and Bellamy is an engaging host. His material is not wholly original in concept, but his tales twist around to very unexpected places. One tale of chatroom experimentation has put me off Apple Jacks completely. Thank goodness he stayed away from Sugar Smacks.
